About
The Portland Culinary Alliance (PCA) is the foremost association of culinary professionals in the Pacific Northwest. Since 1987 PCA has provided educational programs and invaluable networking for chefs, educators, nutritionists, winemakers, entrepreneurs, cookbook authors, food journalists and others whose work or studies relate to the food and beverage bounty of our region. Members generally reside in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Monthly programs are designed to meet members’ educational needs and curiosity about food trends and techniques. Recent topics have included a seminar on how to make limoncello, a food writing symposium, and a multi-course chocolate dinner. For a rundown of past programs, please visit the Home Page. Program fees cover the hosts’ costs and usually range between $20 and $35. Non-member guests are welcome to attend all programs at a slightly higher fee. At the annual meeting/holiday dinner, members enjoy a multi-course dinner and wine at a top Portland restaurant. PCA subsidizes the per-person costs to keep the price for the meal comparatively low. After a brief business meeting, members partake in a holiday exchange of culinary gifts. Other programs planned throughout the year may include group field trips to other regions of the Northwest to visit food and beverage businesses. Field trips have been organized to Eugene and Southern Oregon, as well as to Napa Valley to dine at the famed French Laundry restaurant.
