An Event for Potluck in the Park
Wow, can you believe it has been almost a year since our first Winter Warm concert? Tom, bless his heart, has offered to do it again, and will be joined by none other than Blues legend Curtis Salgado. The rest of the lineup is fantastic, and I have included information about the entire line-up at the end of this e-mail.
Most of you know that I have been involved with Potluck in the Park for about 16 years, but I have never seen the extent of the need that we are seeing this year. Where we used to serve 250-350 guests each Sunday, we are now serving 400-600 guests. All of our costs are way up, and donations are way down.
So come to the concert, have a wonderful time for a remarkable price (concert, mini auction, hors d’oeuvre buffet, complementary beverages for $45) or spring for VIP tickets and attend a special pre-concert reception with Tom and VIP seating for $100.
Forward this email to your friends and business contacts and encourage them to come.
If you can’t come, please make a donation. All you have to do is go to the Potluck web site, http://www.potluckinthepark.
Please also encourage your employers to make a donation and become a sponsor of Winter Warm 2. Individuals, businesses or organizations who donate $500 or more will elligible to receive 2 VIP tickets to the concert.
If you have any questions, please email me at potluckconcert@gmail.com.
I am looking forward to seeing you on December 7!
Best,
Maxine Borcherding, PCA MemberOctober 8, 2008

2009 Oregon Truffle Festival: A Rare Find in Culinary Tourism
Eugene, Ore.— The secret’s out! Food lovers know that Oregon truffles are among the best in the world. Come celebrate this rare Northwest delicacy with three days of tastings, tours and workshops at the Oregon Truffle Festival, where you never know what you might find.
The fourth annual Oregon Truffle Festival is set for Jan. 30 through Feb.1, 2009, at the Valley River Inn in Eugene, Ore.
The Oregon Truffle Festival is the only event of its kind in North America. It is designed to celebrate native Oregon truffles — from their hidden source in the forest to their glory on the table. Participants will be immersed in all things truffle — from tasting to touring to hunting this Oregon delicacy. Participants will learn about the diverse selection of truffles in the mid-Willamette Valley. Highlights include an assortment of truffle dinners by esteemed chefs at Eugene restaurants, cooking classes, a truffle marketplace, a truffle grower’s forum and the Grand Truffle Dinner.
Considered by many to be the highlight of the weekend, the 2009 Grand Truffle Dinner features courses created especially for this event by five of Oregon’s most celebrated chefs: Scott Dolich of Park Kitchen in Portland; John Gorham of Portland’s Toro Bravo; Rocky Maselli of Marché in Eugene; Gabriel Rucker of Le Pigeon in Portland; and pastry chef Cheryl Wakerhauser of Pix Pâtisserie in Portland.
New to the 2009 program is a cooking class package with acclaimed chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Vitaly Paley, as well as a cultivation seminar for inspired growers, and truffle dog lectures and demonstrations for aspiring truffle hunters
“The Oregon Truffle Festival is fun and it’s celebratory,” said Charles Lefevre, festival co-founder and owner of New World Truffieres. “It mixes up all kinds of people from all over the world who love to gather around the table in the shared experience of food and wine.”
Registration is now open for OTF weekend packages and the Grand Truffle Dinner. Five different options variously including lectures, cooking classes, winery luncheons, truffle forays, farm tours and receptions may be purchased online at www.oregontrufflefestival.com.
